MEET OUR TEAM

Stephen Twombly - Publisher

Stephen Twombly joined Boston Globe Media in 2006 to launch Design New England magazine. A veteran magazine executive, he has published and launched both business-to-consumer and business-to-business titles including the award-winning CMO, a magazine for senior marketing executives published by International Data Group (IDG). On the consumer side, Steve was publisher of Body + Soul, now owned by Martha Stewart Omnimedia, from 1998 to 2001, and of Natural Health from 2001 to 2003. In 1997 he launched Solutions Integrator for IDG, where he also published several magazines in the emerging consumer computer category. On weekends, Steve retreats to his New Hampshire home to enjoy nature and pursue his interests in oil painting and music composition.

Gail Ravgiala - Editor

Gail Ravgiala joined Design New England as editor in November 2007. She had been the home design editor for the Sunday Boston Globe Magazine, where she edited and produced the six-times-a-year Your Home issues. Her magazine experience began in 1990 when she was named content editor for the Globe's Your Home, Your Health, Travel, and Fashion magazines. "Design New England’s editorial goal,” she says, “is to bring to our readers the best in design, while introducing them to the professionals behind these splendid homes and gardens.” She lives in a neighborhood of 19th-century Victorian homes in Boston, where she nurtures her appreciation of architecture and solid building techniques.

J Porter - Art Director

J Porter, born and bred in New England, happily returned “home” to join Design New England after seven years as art director at Washington Post Magazine. Prior to that, he was creative director at Yankee Magazine, where he was nominated for two national magazine awards for design excellence and received numerous design awards from the City and Regional Magazine Association. In addition to consulting on design issues with more than 30 magazines, Porter has also designed a best-selling children’s book, Flight of The Reindeer, and consulted on the screenplay when it was adapted as a made-for-TV movie. Still, he says, his all-time favorite job was driving a taxi in Boston. He splits his time between Boston and Peterborough, New Hampshire, where he lives with his wife, Margit, and German Shepherd puppy, Sequoia.

Danielle Ossher - Associate Editor

Danielle Ossher is ecstatic to rejoin Design New England as associate editor. A former editorial intern, she relishes indulging a long-time curiosity of stunning homes and landscapes she honed while growing up in Westchester County, New York. With a degree in journalism from Northeastern University, her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Boston Globe and Fashion Boston. She lived on a dirt road in the woods before moving to Boston, and now ventures out in search of New England’s quintessential charm every chance she gets.

Molly A. Campbell - Account Executive

Molly Campbell is thrilled to be a part of the Design New England team as an Account Executive. She was first introduced to the world of architecture and design in Los Angeles, where she was a part of the sales team at Architectural Digest before taking on a role as Regional Sales Representative at ELLE Decor and Metropolitan Home. After a brief stint selling Audis in Southern California, Molly is happy to be back in her native New England, getting to know the local design community and reacquainting herself with her old haunts. When not battling traffic on the way into town, Molly can be found playing with her kitties, Fred and Ethel, practicing Bikram yoga, and dominating the Cambridge trivia scene.

Laura Dugdale - Account Executive

Laura Dugdale joined Design New England, bringing with her 10 years of experience as a top-producing media professional. Prior to DNE, Laura successfully sold off-line and online media solutions with several national trade publications including Art Business News and Framing Business News, as well as two daily newspapers. She attributes her past successes to listening to her customers and having a genuine interest in helping them growing their businesses. She enjoys spending time with friends, cooking, and a good game of Scrabble. She is a graduate of Baylor University and has resided in Southeastern Massachusetts for over 25 years.
